Qatar Holds 12-Hour Talks in Tehran to Prevent Renewed US-Israeli Military Strikes Against Iran

Qatari mediators held more than 12 hours of negotiations in Tehran on Friday in an effort to restart direct US-Iran talks and prevent another major military confrontation. According to Axios on October 31, the Qatari delegation maintained regular contact with the White House throughout the discussions, which are expected to continue in Doha. Washington insists that Iran make nuclear concessions, while Tehran demands an end to the US naval blockade, the release of frozen assets and permission to resume oil exports. Mediators are exploring a proposal under which Iran would allow United Nations inspectors to visit damaged nuclear facilities in exchange for limited American sanctions relief. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye have urged President Donald Trump to give diplomacy more time, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly pressed for joint military action against Iran following the US midterm elections./ Axios
